Yesterday
Q2 2016: Development
Adnuntius AS was formed by Mikal Rohde, Gert W. Munthe and Stian Remaad. The company acquired 25,000 hours worth of code, and hired the core team that created it. The rest of 2016 was spent bringing the first version of the ad server, a software-as-a-service, to life for the first pilot customers.
2017-18: First Customers
The ad server goes live with the first pilot customer. Focus continues to be on building a solid and scalable platform with no downtime, capable of handling any amount of traffic, and a customer base of small and medium-sized publishers.
2019: New Strategy
Ad server sales plateaus due to lock-in mechanisms with certain competitors. But as the GDPR starts getting traction we decide to start the journey of making a better alternative to programmatic advertising, that struggles both with privacy, environmental issues and with cost efficiency.
2020-21: Development
We use the majority of the covid lockdown period to develop a platform for our new strategy, and to establish Norway’s first curated marketplace together with media agency Try. The first campaigns verify our hypotheses about cost saving, transparency, ease of integration and privacy.
2022-23: Growth
We start creating growth, creating for instance close to 14x the marketplace revenue in December 2023 compared to 2022.
2024: Growth & Expansion
We establish operations in Sweden, Denmark and Finland, and we start commercializing new features such as video streaming, semantic targeting based on large language modeling, and high impact formats.

Adnuntius is a cash positive company with employees in Norway, Australia, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. We are, and will, remain true to our mission to create a more effective, transparent, privacy compliant and environmentally friendly marketplace for trading digital advertising.
